I have always wanted to create stories and games. However, at the same time I find myself wanting to learn in small incremental steps, and really, my personal passion is less about creating systems and code but more about the world, lore, and stories.

I have written a few short stories here and there, but my real want is to create a piece of interactive fiction so that others can experience my stories in my way. Its why I have always been the DM for my groups DND games for the past 10ish years. Well that and I am the only one who can seemingly learn all the rules needed haha.

To help with my goal of creating interactive stories, I decided to start small: by creating modules/mods for existing games, rather then trying to reinvent the wheel and create my own game system / engine (like using Unity 3D or Construct 2 or GameMaker ect)

I have narrowed my choice of Toolsets to 3

I own all the games above and their respective DLC / Expansions.

I am leaning towards NWN 1/2 as a starting point personally, but I am curious: Which would you suggest for a total newbie? Which is easier to get started with? What has your experience been with each toolset?

Also, any good tutorials for your toolset of choice that I can follow to get to learning?
